Amy Gillaspie is an archaeologist and NAGPRA Director, working in agreement with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in their NAGPRA Assistance Program. She has been a NAGPRA Practitioner since 2022, first in her previous role at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and now with 58 museums and universities across the United States. Her work and interests focus on repatriation, consultation, Tribal collaboration in archaeology, the archaeology and history of Denver and Colorado, Moche archaeology, site abandonment, ritual, and social memory. She has taught archaeology courses since 2018 and enjoys working with students in the classroom as well as in field and volunteer settings. Her archaeological work has taken her to Belize, France, Peru, and locations in North Dakota and Colorado. She teaches Introduction to Archaeology and Colorado Archaeology.
