About

Sam is passionate about archaeology and curation, with a particular appreciation for how artifacts tell the stories that enrich our understanding of our past and what it means to be human. She enjoys working with student employees and interns in both the archaeology lab and the curation facility, and delights in sharing her passions and knowledge. Sam has extensive lab experience, with the majority of her work in the historic artifact collection from the Fatty Rice Site at Garden of the Gods. She has worked on numerous projects in curation, including processing historic artifacts from Jimmy Camp, Chancellor Ranch, and the Ludlow Massacre Site.  In addition to her time in the lab, she also enjoys participating in archaeological fieldwork throughout various parts of Colorado.

Education

Sam graduated from UCCS with a BA in Anthropology and minor in Museum Studies and Gallery Practice and is thrilled to join the Department of Anthropology again in her role as Repository Manager. She is also currently pursuing her MA in Cultural Heritage and Environmental Resource Management (CHERM) at UCCS.
